Virgin Trains were launching a safety essentials campaign to address a variety of key safety issues at Virgin (slips, trips and falls on the platform, passing trains, scalds on board, blockage and obstructions etc) and wanted some films to support the messaging. The solution needed to balance the playfulness of the brand with the serious safety messaging.
We looked at how accidents and incidents don’t generally occur as a result of poor training or inability at work, but rather inattention and complacency was the root of lots of incidents. We came up with the Mind Gremlin – physically represented by a puppet – who sits on your shoulder and distracts you at key moments in your working day, thus opening you up to the possibility of having or causing an accident.
Shooting took place across the network, including on-board and on platform and we produced four films dealing with Assumption, Distraction, Mental Health and Stress.
